Art Submissions

Guidelines

  1. We are looking for art that shows some kind of fantastical element, whether obvious or subtle.
  2. Preferably the art should convey the sense that there is a story behind it.
  3. All art should be original and not included copyrighted material.
  4. Electronic submissions only!

Submission Format

  1. All submissions should be saved in JPEG format with an extension of “.jpg”
  2. All submissions must be at least 300×400px and no larger than 8×10in. If your artwork is accepted, you will be asked to provide a copy at 300dpi for printing.
  3. Submitted files MUST be no larger than 2MB. If necessary we will ask for a higher-resolution image after being accepted.

Note: Art may be submitted in color, but if accepted to the printed magazine it will likely be printed in grayscale. Please keep this in mind.

We request that artists allow accepted art to be archived in past issues online. However, we will remove a piece from these archives if the artist requests. Once requested, the artwork should be taken down within three weeks. If this does not happen, please send a query in case your request got lost in the mail.

Submission Period

  1. Submissions are open all year round.
  2. Artwork are accepted on a rolling basis and will be considered for upcoming issues of Ensorcelled.
  3. We do not accept simultaneous submissions (more than one piece submitted to us at one time by the same author). However, if a piece is rejected, you are more than welcome to send us another.

Rights

We claim Non-Exclusive electronic publishing rights for all pieces. In addition, accepted submissions may undergo minor edits to fit the format of the website. During the spring, we may request one-time print publication rights for the pieces selected to be included in a print anthology. We electronically archive all accepted work. Artists may request for their work to be removed at any time.

By submitting your artwork, you are agreeing to these terms. In addition we will not retain rights on submissions that we do not accept.

Payment

We regret that at the moment, we are unable to pay for accepted artwork. We hope that in the future this will change.
